The differential fork light barrier from Di-soric uses a patented double beam detection process to measure differences in material. One beam acts as a reference point and the other measures differences based on the data received by the first beam. When a difference occurs, the fork sensor emits an output signal to alert that a change has taken place. Each sensor casing is black anodized aluminum and has a protection class of IP67.
The size of the openings available range from 2mm (0.079 inches) to 220mm (8.66 inches). The resolution of this fork sensor is so high; it will detect a clear label on a clear carrier. It has been widely used in the pulp and paper industry for edge guiding. Other possible applications include measuring rotation, and detecting elements in a feed bar.
