PrimeTec-A

The PrimeTec-A combines microwave motion detection and an active infrared safety curtain in a single device designed for automatic sliding doors. The microwave section activates the door when a person approaches, while the active infrared curtain continuously protects the primary closing edge against crushing and shearing hazards. The IR curtain is self-monitoring and is tested before every door closing cycle. PrimeTec-A is certified to EN 16005 and DIN 18650 and supports cross traffic masking to prevent false triggers.

The PrimeTec-A activates the door on one side and protects the primary closing edge with its infrared curtain. On the opposite side of the door, a PrimeMotion sensor handles opening detection in a typical paired installation.

Installation Notes

Mount PrimeTec-A on the activation side of the sliding door — it handles both opening detection and closing-edge protection from one device.
Pair with a PrimeMotion sensor on the opposite side for full bilateral coverage of the door opening.
Adjust the infrared curtain field geometry to match the door panel width and the clearance requirements of the installation.
Enable cross traffic masking if pedestrian or vehicle traffic passes in front of the door without intent to enter.
Verify system certification compliance with the door manufacturer and system integrator before commissioning.

Certification and Compliance

EN 16005 — European standard for power-operated pedestrian doorsets: safety in use.
DIN 18650 — German standard for automatic door systems.
Self-monitoring IR curtain satisfies the requirement for automatic checking of the closing-edge protection device before each door closing movement.
For performance level PLd, category 2 safety requirements, the PrimeTec-B variant should be specified instead.
