IFB-1

The IFB-1 is a universal Pantron interface box used for programming FSI / FSR fork sensors and for connecting supported ISM and ICL amplifiers to a computer through an isolated USB-to-RS232 link. In RS232 mode it is bus-powered, and when 24 VDC is applied it automatically switches into FSI mode for compatible fork light barrier setup.

USB type BIsolated RS232FSI / FSR support120 kbps max.1000 V isolationIP10 housing

Key Features

  • Galvanically isolated adaptor from USB to RS232.
  • Supports Pantron ISM and ICL amplifier series.
  • Supports Pantron FSI / FSR fork light barrier series.
  • Universally usable as a setup and programming interface.
  • Full support of RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, DCD, and RI control lines.
  • No extra supply required in RS232 mode because the unit is bus-powered.

Best Fit Applications

  • Programming supported Pantron fork sensors from a laptop or service PC.
  • Commissioning ISM and ICL amplifier installations with serial communication.
  • Maintenance kits that need one compact interface for multiple Pantron product families.
  • Bench setup and diagnostics where galvanic isolation improves robustness.

The IFB-1 is a service and commissioning accessory rather than a permanently installed process controller. It is best used wherever reliable, isolated communication is needed during setup or troubleshooting.

Communication and Use Notes

Operating mode Primary connection Power source Use note
RS232 adaptor mode USB to isolated RS232 USB bus-powered Used for programming supported ISM and ICL amplifiers without an additional supply.
FSI / FSR programming mode USB to Pantron fork sensor interface 24 VDC external supply required The IFB-1 automatically switches from RS232 mode to FSI mode when 24 VDC is applied.
Control-line support RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, DCD, RI As used by the connected device Full signal-line support makes the unit broadly usable with supported Pantron communication tasks.

On mobile, this table will side-scroll so every value remains readable without breaking the layout.

Integration Notes

  • Use a standard USB type A to B cable for the computer connection.
  • Apply 24 VDC when programming compatible FSI / FSR fork sensors.
  • In amplifier-programming use, no additional supply is needed in RS232 mode.
  • Match the wiring terminals carefully before field use to protect both the interface and the connected device.

The IFB-1 is intended to make Pantron commissioning and service workflows more flexible by combining isolated serial communication and fork-sensor setup capability in one compact unit.
